Accessibility statement

Last updated 10 October 2026

We want everyone who works in care to be able to use CareLearn, whatever their sight, hearing, movement, memory or confidence with technology. This statement explains how accessible our website is and how to get help.

1. Using this website

CareLearn is used by care workers of every age and confidence level, often on a phone during a busy shift, so we want it to be easy for everyone to use. You should be able to:

  • zoom in up to 400% without text spilling off the screen or needing to scroll sideways
  • get around the whole website using just a keyboard
  • use the website with a screen reader, such as VoiceOver, TalkBack or NVDA
  • turn off moving content by asking your device for reduced motion

We have also designed CareLearn so that:

  • text is large and uses Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed to be easy to read for people with low vision
  • buttons and links are big enough to tap easily, and show a clear outline when you move to them with a keyboard
  • colours have strong contrast, and colour is never the only way information is shown
  • form errors are explained in words, read out by screen readers, and keep what you have already typed
  • there is a “Skip to content” link at the top of every page
  • we use plain English and short sentences

2. How accessible this website is

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at level AA. Our public pages are partially compliant, because of the issues listed below.

This statement covers our public website: the home, course library, pricing, certificate check, contact and legal pages. The signed-in areas for care workers and managers are still being tested and will be added to this statement.

3. What is not accessible yet

  • Decorative animations on the home page. Some background icons and highlights keep moving and cannot be paused on the page (WCAG 2.2.2). They carry no information. If your device is set to reduce motion, they stop. We plan to add a control to pause all animation.
  • Signed-in areas not fully tested. Our first checks of the care worker area found some pages without the landmarks that help screen reader users jump to the main content (WCAG 1.3.1). We are fixing these and testing the rest of the signed-in service.

4. If you need something in a different format

If you need information from this website in a different format, such as large print, easy read or a document that works better with your screen reader, contact us and tell us what you need. We aim to reply within one working day.

5. Reporting a problem

We are always looking to improve. If you find a problem that is not listed here, or you think we are not meeting accessibility requirements, please contact us or email privacy@carelearnapp.com. Tell us the page and what went wrong, and we will come back to you.

6. How we tested

We last tested the public pages on 10 October 2026. We:

  • checked every public page with axe, an automated tool, against WCAG 2.2 level A and AA
  • checked that every page works at 320 pixels wide, the same as zooming to 400% on a laptop
  • checked keyboard use, visible focus and screen reader labels on forms and interactive parts

Automated tools cannot find every problem, and the website has not yet been audited by an independent accessibility specialist. We plan to arrange one, and to test with care workers who use assistive technology.
